Hello!
I'm not sure if this post will interest you, cause it's kind of personal...but you guys are my friends so I think I can be honest with you ;)
First of all, I have never been in a relationship with a guy. Ever. But this isn't something that bothers me, because I know that God has a plan for my life and that what He has in store for my life is more amazing than I could ever imagine. And He has amazing things in store for you too ♥ When I was at a girls conference at my church, the speakers said some things that really stuck with me about relationships. So here they are;
- We get so tired of waiting that we take things into our own hands, and settle for something that isn't God's best for us.
- The best guys want to get to know you intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally before physically.
- In our inability to wait for who/what God wants for us, we build things with our gold (our life) to create something we think we need. But God wanted to use that gold for His most perfect, and beautiful plan for your life ♥
- Let yourself be found, don't be a chaser ;)
- Be you. Live a full and amazing life and when you're ready, God will bring the right person into your life.
Amen right!? I think this is such good advice and these are all things I try to remember and think about ♥
Here's a little list of things I look for in a guy, but I know that God has even greater things in store for me than I could ever imagine. Anyway, this is my little dreamy wishlist I guess...
Wait for a guy who:
-Calls you beautiful
-You can be yourself around
-You can talk with for hours
-You can sit with for hours without feeling like you have to say anything at all
-Is great with kids
-Respects and honors you
-Is your best friend
-Gets along with your family+parents
-Is nice to your friends
-Accepts and loves you the way you are
-Thinks you're the most amazing girl in the world
-Sings along to the radio with you
-Will go on adventures with you
-Helps you face your fears
-Writes you love letters
-Calls you things like darling instead of babe
-Can make you laugh whatever mood you're in
-Prays for you
-Plays with your hair
-Remembers the little things
-Remembers the little things
-Writes you notes
-Looks in your eyes
-Goes on walks with you
-Knows how to make you smile
-Wants to protect you
-Is honest
-Looks at you and smiles
-Loves life
-Loves you
-And most of all, loves God
♥ I pray that you won't settle, because God has an incredible and perfect plan for your life ♥
hugs
~Maiya~
(maybe you guys could comment something that you look for in a guy as well? Just so that I don't feel like I'm pouring my heart out here all by myself...♥ hehe)
Really good advice there!
ReplyDeleteMy little wish list...a guy who:
-Makes you laugh/smile
-Good looks are a bonus ;)
-Comfortable with silence
-Says hi everytime he sees you
-Listens and supports you
-Understands/wants to understand and know you more
-Encourages your passions
-Loves you
-Is open and honest
-Respects you
-Is friends with your friends
-Wants to spend the rest of his life with you
-A Christian who loves God and spurs you in your faith
^.^
i love this list! i created one myself a year or so ago, to remind myself to never settle for anything less than God has planned for me to have. His will is the best, and i thank God for parents who have guided me and warned me against guys they did not love God as much as they claimed. parents + brothers help tons in these kinds of things haha. lovely post as usual! xxx.
ReplyDeleteWoah! This is amazing, Maiya! Love your advice. <3 I've never been in a relationship with a guy either and I'm sixteen. So know you're not alone. ;) I don't know if I could add anything more to that perfect list. It's exactly what I would have written. Love your photos, words, and awesomeness! <3
ReplyDeleteThese are the thoughts that I have too! When thinking about settling, really, you are exchanging Prince Charming for the village boy along the way, an image that has stuck with me.
ReplyDeleteYour list includes the most of what I would look for, but now that I'm older, things like has a job, wants to live here, and will tolerate cats also go on my list.
If I'm to be 100% honest, I've never been in a relationship with a guy, but I've been in a few talking ones, and I have definitely learned that the best guys wait to get to know you physically until they know you spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.
ReplyDeleteMy list:
Someone who will go on spontaneous adventures with me
Someone who had good work ethic (this is very important to me)
Someone who is good with kids and wants to raise their own someday
Someone who challenges me spiritually
Someone who I can play music with (this is just more of a preference)
Someone who I feel 100% comfortable around and will laugh at my awkwardness
Someone who pushes me ( in my passions and when I'm tempted to give up)
Someone who is ambitious
Someone who knows how to calm me down and can balance out my emotional side with sturdiness.
Someone who loves Jesus more than me.

I love this Maiya!! <3 I love your list :) I think most of all someone who loves God and someone who not only says he is a christian but shows it! : )
ReplyDeleteI have never been in an relationship with a guy before, but there had been several times when the guys have asked me, but I've turned them down. I have to agree with all of the points you said on your wishlist! Disney is a very important one, and singing. :) And I think I would also love to probably have a relationship with a guy that, if I end up breaking up with him or visa versa, we would still be friends and there would be no bitterness attached, you know? :)

I totally agree. it took me a long time to be able to get that concept through my head. I struggled with it for a long time and only by Gods grace was I able to see my own worth as an individual and then find patience to wait :)
ReplyDeleteLovely blog you have here. thanks for taking time to share your thoughts with us. God bless you!
