got glam cosmetics - review

Hello friends!

Today I wanted to talk to you all about some lovely makeup products from Got Glam Cosmetics!
These were sent to me a little while ago, and I've been testing them out so that I can share my opinion with you all :)

Waterproof Mascara (black) : (US$22.00, CAD $30.22)

I've absolutely fallen in love with this product!  Typically, I don't like waterproof mascaras and find that they don't end up looking nearly as nice after being in the water.
But, that definitely isn't the case for this one!  I've recently started teaching swimming lessons, and even after hours in the pool this keeps my lashes looking amazing.

Plumping Lip gloss (in the shades radiant & sassy)   (US$18.00, CAD $24.72)

These glosses are like nothing else in my makeup collection!  They are packed with glitter, and look gorgeous alone, or over lipstick.  The golden colour reminds me a lot of the Jouer Cosmetics Lip Topper in the shade skinny dip, which has been a favourite in the makeup community ever since it was released :)
I adore this high-shine, plumping formula and I know I'll get a lot of use out of these. They're so lovely!

pretties for your face - review

Hello everyone!

Today I will be reviewing some gorgeous products from an Etsy shop called Pretties for Your Face!  PFYF is an adorable makeup brand which sells eyeshadows, highlighters, and pressed glitters.  They kindly sent me a few things to try out so I could share them with you :)  So here they are!

These are by far the most intense and glowy highlighters in my makeup collection!  They are such blendable, soft powders and a little bit goes such a long way.  They are also cruelty free, which is amazing. Also, all the highlighters in the shop are currently buy 1 get 1 free :)

The shades that were sent to me are rainbow goodness and aphrodite ~

rainbow goodness is such a unique product, and is different from anything else in my collection!  I've seen rainbow highlighters like this trending in the makeup community lately, and I think that it is such an adorable and innovative idea.  This isn't a product I wear day to day, but it is so great to have for photo-shoots, and for Halloween :)
The way I've gotten the most use out of this product is by using the individual shades as eyeshadows. They are all very pigmented and have the most gorgeous sheen ~ so lovely!

aphrodite has quickly become my favourite highlighter in my collection!  It's a pearly white colour, which is the perfect highlight shade for my fair skin.  This product reflects light so beautifully, and gives a super intense glow!  Make sure to use a light hand when applying it cause you only need a little bit :) I've received countless compliments and questions when I've worn this, cause it's just so beautiful!

eyeshadows

PFYF makes so many gorgeous eyeshadows and pressed glitters!  They are very pigmented, shimmery, and blendable.  I have noticed a bit of fall-out when I use them though, so I recommend applying your eyeshadow before any face makeup when you're using these.

The shades that were sent to me are copper craze and midnight ~

Copper craze is a stunning warm toned metallic shade which is absolutely perfect for the fall.  Midnight is a duo-chrome black with a strong navy blue shift.

These shadows come in metal pans which will pop into any magnetic palette. I keep mine in my MAC customizable palette, but you can also purchase a 4 pan magnetic palette from PFYF, or place them in a Z-palette.

These are such lovely products and I am so thankful to Pretties for Your Face for sending them to me!
I hope you guys will check out their shop, and let me know which of these products you like best!

silverview park // adventure diary

A sunny Friday in July spent exploring Silverview Park and sitting by the river ~ I don't know if I can think of a more lovely way to have spent my day.  On Tuesday my dad and sister will arrive at the place my mom and I have been staying this Summer.  So I'll be making lots more videos like this one to record and remember my adventures.

What have you been up to this Summer?

july playlist

I absolutely love making, sharing, and listening to playlists.  And lately, I have especially fallen in love with browsing spotify for new songs and creating pretty graphics to go along with them ~

This is one filled with a few of my recently discovered favourites.  I've found it perfect for hot summer days wandering the city, long roadtrips (with the windows rolled down of course), and as my life's soundtrack for lazy afternoons around the house  ~ I've linked the spotify version here in case you'd like to give it a listen.

I'd love for you to leave your current favourite songs in a comment down below, cause I'm always looking for new music!  Also, let me know if you'd like to see a summer haul...cause I've done quite a bit of shopping lately.

+ peeks cosmetics +

Hello everyone!

Today I'm back with a VERY exciting post in collaboration with one of my new favourite makeup brands; Peeks Cosmetics!  They were kind enough to send me a tone of their gorgeous lip products to try out, and I thought I would share my opinions on them with you :)

Lip Blasters:

These are SUCH an incredible product. The best way I can describe them to you is that they are somewhere between an intensely pigmented gloss and a moisturizing liquid lipstick!
They go on fully opaque in one swipe and last on my lips for hours, even though they never dry down fully matte. They are also cruelty, gluten, and paraben free and have a delicious fresh mint flavour.  I can't say enough about this formula and the shade selection :) they are just absolutely gorgeous!

Down below are swatches of all the shades I was sent (right to left):

-tangerine (neon orange)
-sexy (soft pink)
-babe (fuchsia pink)
-popularity (neon pink)
-mystery (red)
-diva (burgundy)
-delicious (dark brown) - this one reminds me a lot of True Brown K by Kylie Cosmetics

The next products they sent me were their lip glosses. These are enriched with vitamins A, C, and E so they keep your lips soft and hydrated. They are also cruelty, gluten, and paraben free (like all of their lip products).
Some of these are sheer and some are more opaque, but all of them are very high shine and long lasting on the lips.

I am not typically a lip gloss girl, but these have totally changed my mind! They are not sticky at all, very comfortable on the lips, and SO beautiful.

Here are some swatches of the shades they sent me (right to left):

-fantasy (nude) - this one is my personal favourite!
-grown woman (rose pink)
-doll house (pink)
-control (orchid)

Lipstick:
Lastly, they sent me 6 of their lipsticks (5 matte, 1 satin).  When fully dried down these give the look of a liquid lipstick, without being drying at all.  They are enriched with vitamin E to keep your lips hydrated and comfortable while still having a gorgeous matte finish.  These have SUCH an incredible formula and I have been reaching for them almost every day!

Here are swatches of all the shades I was sent (right to left):

-love thang (soft pink)
-wineberry baby (deep violet)
-quick sand (light brown)
-bonjour (light grey)
-bare me (nude)
-chocolate cake (brown)

As you can probably tell, I am completely in love with each and every one of these products.  I would highly recommend checking out Peeks Cosmetics and if you do, let me know in the comments!

xoxo

drifting & thrifting

Hello again!

So many of you on instagram said you'd love to see a thrift haul, so I'm back today to show you what I've picked up lately.  This past week I've done a lot of thrifting.  My shopping addiction combined with the lovely spring weather was just too much, so I spent 3 days browsing various thrift and vintage shops with my sister.

I'll probably be back with a new vintage haul very soon, because one of the thrift shop owners told me about a store in my city called "vintage buck" where everything is just $1...I have a feeling I'll leave that place with my arms full of treasures and plenty of things to share with you all in a post.  I'll keep you updated!

I am SOO in love with these "PULSE" jeans.  I was very pleased with how perfectly they fit, and how gorgeous the wash was.  This brand was very big in the 80s, and finding them was very exciting for me! I know I'll definitely get a lot of wear out of these ~

In my opinion, this is the perfect summer top.  I've been gravitating towards very neutral tones lately, so this beige and white striped tank was right up my alley.  I also found the exact same top in blue+white!  It's so rare to find 2 of the same item in vintage stores, so of course I was thrilled.

Here you can see the blue+white version of the top I mentioned above.

These pants from the brand "un, deux, trois" were another very exciting find!  They're white, ribbed, and a little bit cropped.  I'm so excited to style these this spring and summer, cause they are so lovely and very different from anything else I own.

This oversized "gap" denim jackets is definitely one of my favourite finds.  The wash is so perfect, and the fact that it's oversized gives any outfit more of an effortless look, which I love.

These jeans are one of a kind and so gorgeous.  You can't totally see in these pictures, but there is a patch of floral embroidery on the front zipper which is completely adorable.  These are a bit too big for me, but I couldn't leave them behind! :)

These "Ikeda" jeans are another really amazing vintage find! I was on the hunt for a great pair of high-waisted black jeans, and these ones are perfect.

This pair of overalls and dial phone are possibly the most exciting thrifting finds so far!  The dial phone really does work, and is a lovely pale pinky beige colour.

My sister is shown here wearing the black denim overalls we found.  We had both been on the hunt for a pair like this for such a long time, and we're so thrilled to finally have them! They are so comfortable and easy to throw on, and we absolutely adore them!

I also picked up these two records!  The first I bought mostly for the album cover…but I ended up quite enjoying the music as well.  The second album I found was "ABBA - greatest hits".  This was such an exciting find, and neither of these records have a single scratch!

I hope you guys enjoyed this thrift haul post :) Let me know if you'd like to see more posts like this in the future (other clothing hauls, makeup hauls etc…), and comment down below what your favourite thing I bought was.

dizzy & feeling blue

maiya wears

denim jacket - vintage GAP
grey ribbed top - american eagle
button up skirt - OONTOODstyle
dress - OONTOODstyle

I have SUCH an exciting collaboration post to share with you all today!   I created these 2 spring outfits featuring a few adorable clothing pieces from OONTOODstyle.  Spring weather on the island has been getting a lot sunnier, so these items have been staples in my wardrobe lately.  The whole OONTOODstyle is composed of very simple, versatile pieces that can be customized (colour, size) to perfectly fit your style!  I was so impressed with the quality of the clothing and I know I'll get a lot of wear out of these items during the warmer months.

This is the first blogpost which features glimpses of my room...so let me know if you'd like to see a full room tour sometime soon!  I've also thrifted quite a lot lately, so comment down below if you'd like to see a thrift haul as well.

Current Beauty Favourites

Today I wanted to do a little post about some of the makeup and beauty bits I've been loving lately.  These are the products I've been reaching for day after day, and I would recommend each and every one of them to you guys!  They are sooo lovely :)

Winter is never a great time for my skin.  Since it's already quite dry, the cold windy weather is not much help, and leaves my hands very often dry and cracking (yum).  I've been absolutely loving this "Hand & Nail Cream" by the brand MOR because first of all....the packaging is GORGEOUS.  Also, it's really moisturizing without being too thick, and leaves a delicious sweet marshmallow scent.

Another current favourite of mine is the Rimmel "Match Perfection Foundation".  I recently purchased this, and it has now won the title of my all time favourite drugstore foundation...it's sooo good.  It leaves a really natural dewy finish, which I much prefer to a matte look.  It's also very inexpensive (around $8 canadian) and worth every penny!

The Maybelline "fit me" is my current favourite concealer! It's very creamy and easy to blend, and I'd say it has medium coverage. I love using this for my under-eyes and for blemishes :)

The combination of these 2 products makes for the most AMAZING brows ever.  The NYX "micro brow pencil" is very thin and perfect for creating natural, hair like strokes.  It's very similar to the famous ABH "brow wiz", but for half the price :)
So I fill my brows in with the pencil, then set them in place with the Benefit "gimme brow" which keeps the hairs in place all day, and also has little fibers that thicken your brows and add a bit more colour.

I just recently started testing this product out, and I already love it!  This is the "glow all the way" primer by Hard Candy Cosmetics.  I wouldn't say that this extended the wear of my makeup like many primers do, but the glow really shone through my foundation and gave a very dewy finish.  I've also used this over foundation as a cream highlight, and it works very nicely that way as well!  Plus the packaging is adorable... ;)

These have been my absolute favourite lipsticks for the past few weeks!  They are both so comfortable on the lips, and pair well with almost any makeup look or outfit :)

-Rimmel Kate Moss "42"
-Mac "creme in your coffee"

Lately I have been completely obsessed with highlighting!  And my go-to has definitely been "pink champagne" from Tarte :)  I got this in a Christmas set and I don't know if it's still available...but if you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend that you do!  This brush (also from Tarte) is perfect for applying and blending it out.

"Vanille Extreme" by Comptoir Sud Pacific is definitely my current favourite perfume (and possibly all-time favourite...?).  I can't tell you how many times people have asked me what perfume I'm wearing when I use this.  It's so lovely.

This is the blush I've been reaching for almost every single day lately.  It's so natural and glowy, and is the perfect blush for almost any makeup look.  I really want to try out more blushes from this line, because this one is incredible! (Lancome "blush subtil" in the shade "miel glace")

----------

And that is all!  Hope you guys enjoyed this post, and let me know in the comments if I should do these types of posts every month...?  Also, stay tuned because I have 2 very exciting posts coming up soon ;)  I can't wait for you guys to see them!

xoxo

YOU deserve to be treasured

I've realized lately that I can count my true friends on one hand.  I've realized that I'm not the kind of girl who needs to be surrounded by lots of friends, I'm the kind of girl who needs a few people (even if that's just 3 or 4) who "get me" and genuinely care.  And I've realized that that's ok.

I've also realized that I shouldn't allow people who don't value or respect me to waste my time (or my tears, or my text messages, or my friendship). That may sound harsh, but it's true.  Certain people have shown me that I don't mean enough to them to be treasured…and I accepted it.  Simply because I didn't want to lose their friendship.  It seemed like the right thing to do for a long time, but trust me, it ISN'T.  You deserve friends who show how much they care about you.  Who laugh with you, but also trust you with the not so great parts of life. Who treasure and value you.  THOSE are the kind of people you should surround yourself with, even if you can only find a handful of them in your lifetime.  And if that's the one lesson I've learned from 2015, I'm content with that.

It's really interesting for me to compare the people I started the year with, to the people I've finished the year with.  And looking around at the people I'm surrounding myself with now makes me very hopeful that I've got an amazing year ahead of me.  And I'm so excited to see what 2016 will bring.

xoxo
