The big chop!

Yesterday I went to the hairdresser with my mom and decided to do something that I had been wanting to do for quite a while... cut off my hair and donate it to make a wig for a girl with cancer or alopecia.  What they have to go through is terrible and girls especially, can feel very insecure and lose a lot of self confidence when they lose their hair.  I am going to donate it to Wigs for Kids BC which is an organization that makes the wigs and donates them to kids at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver.  I chose this organization because when I visited BC Children's I walked past the cancer ward and saw a little girl in the window.  She looked like she was about seven or eight and she had lost all of her hair.  She was laughing and playing with her Grandma who was in the room with her.  When she saw me walking by she turned to wave and smile at me☺ She and all the other kids at the hospital (and kids with cancer everywhere!) are so brave and amazing.  She really touched my heart so I am donating to BCCH.  There are lots of other places to donate though!  If you are thinking about donating your hair you can check out these websites for more information:

Wigs for Kids
Wigs for Kids BC
Locks of Love
Pantene Beautiful Lengths

There are probably more places you can donate to but these were the ones that I looked into.  Here are some pictures of me and my hair before and after (I cut off A LOT of hair!)

BEFORE
Look at all that hair!

This is my hairdresser Amber ☺

Right before the big chop ☺

AFTER
VOILA!!!
Thank you Amber☺
And there's the hair!

I highly encourage you to donate your hair!  I was really nervous at first but I'm so happy I did it ☺  The hair will grow back eventually and it's going to a REALLY good cause.  Hopefully you will be inspired to make the chop!
